“To deliver high quality concrete work by doing everything right the first time” sounds so simple, doesn’t it?

This final mission statement evolved from the professional facilitation of many discussions over an extended period of time where the topic of discussion was – how can we be better? These discussions included members of the Escalante team in all aspects of the business - multi-disciplinary work sessions that included laborers, skilled craftsmen, accountants, receptionists, estimators, schedulers, and virtually every area of the company. Why? With the philosophy that all perspectives matter towards creating optimum results, we encourage every member of the Escalante team to speak up and contribute their perspective. This means that perhaps the newest laborer in the field may come up with a great idea that can improve efficiency and productivity. The receptionist may suggest something to remind our customers just how much we appreciate them when they call our offices. From initiation of the bid process to project launch to final completion, all processes were defined and streamlined to produce maximum efficiency and productivity. This painstaking process resulted in the final conclusion that proactive planning, employee development and operational excellence will produce an environment where all actions conspire “to deliver high quality concrete work by doing everything right the first time.”

Our History

Escalante Concrete began as a vision of Louis Escalante. His love of people, athletics and working with his hands to produce tangible results led him to begin a company where people and their contributions matter, where customers are on a first name basis, and where he was proud of his contributions to the construction community.

Initially, Louis and Lori maintained the small but steady workings of their company from the humble accommodation of their home garage, with an office staff of one. Through reinvestment in their dream and steady growth, ECCI moved finally from their home to the 500 square foot vacant offices of a friend’s business.

Growth continued at Escalante through the years, completing many commercial projects as well as continuing to build a great reputation in the Tucson residential market. In 1999, the company had again exceeded all expectations of growth to that point and it was decided a new, more permanent base of operations was needed. Record breaking growth, major residential construction in and out-of-state and continued reinvestment in the company allowed Escalante to strengthen its foundations once more.

Working closely with Red Hill Consulting Group, we seized the opportunity given by such growth to modernize all procedures as well as create a training apprenticeship program. Every aspect of the company from owner relations with customers, to scheduling processes, to quality assurance, to efficiency maximization was critically evaluated in order to improve the Escalante Concrete experience for all. The transformation of Escalante Concrete took over two years of dedicated work and leadership at all levels.

The company to this day endeavors to improve every facet of its inner workings - at all times. Recently, Escalante concrete was nationally recognized with the distinguished National Association of Home Builders certification, becoming the first concrete company in southern Arizona to earn this honor. Escalante has also recently rejuvenated its commercial division and is currently completing the second of two multi-hundred thousand square foot tilt-up buildings with many more on the horizon.

Our Bios

Louis Escalante
Louis V. Escalante Jr. is a Tucson native and graduated from Pueblo High School in 1971. He began working in construction when he was 18, concrete specifically at 21, and comes from a strong construction family background.  After serving for many years as Vice President of a large Tucson concrete construction firm, Louis left the company to fulfill his own vision of what a concrete contractor could  be.  On his birthday, March 4, 1986 - he and his wife, Lori Escalante, started Escalante Concrete Construction, Inc. with one truck, five employees, and an office in their home.  Louis maintains an active field presence in his role as Chief Executive Officer of the company.  His ethics, life philosophy and style are reiterated in the personality of Escalante Concrete in terms of the Core Values and Mission of the Company as well we the personal relationships he maintains with our customers today.

Lori Escalante
Lori D. Escalante grew up in and around southern Arizona, and is a class of 1980 graduate of Flowing Wells High School where she was Student Body President.  She earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from the University of Arizona and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the State of Arizona.   Lori serves Escalante Concrete as Chief Operations Officer, managing the daily operations of the company to keep Escalante Concrete current and flexible with ongoing changes in the market.
